Dr. Aziz has responsibility over research strategies and programs for the State Office. This includes STEM education and workforce development, as well as broadening institutional participation. Before becoming Director, he served as Professor and Chair of Civil Engineering, Associate Provost for Faculty Development, and Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Graduate school at Clemson University. His area of expertise is fluid mechanics. Dr. Aziz received his BSCE, MS and PhD in Engineering Science from the University of Mississippi.

Cyndy Buckhaults serves as the Communications Manager of the SC EPSCoR/IDeA State Office. Cyndy has over 25 years of experience in the design and communications fields working in various situations from a father and son ad agency to an agency with almost 150 employees, to owning her own freelance firm for over a decade, to working in a creative capacity in a university setting. She brings to SC EPSCoR a wide range of skills including copywriting, web and print design, social media, marketing, event planning, photography and more. Her work has garnered American Advertising Federation (AAF) ADDY® Awards, Silver Microphone awards, as well as AAF Regional and National Awards for Club Management. Cyndy received her Bachelor degree in Psychology from the University of South Florida. [Cyndy is also the Communications Manager for SC INBRE.]

April Heyward serves as the Program Manager of the SC EPSCoR/IDeA State Office. Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Benedict College, Master of Research Administration (MRA) from the University of Central Florida (UCF) where she serves on the UCF MRA National Advisory Board. April is a Doctoral Student in the Doctor of Public Administration (DPA) Program with a concentration in Public Policy at Valdosta State University. She is a Richard W. Riley Diversity Fellow at Furman University. April is a member of the American Society of Public Administration (ASPA), ASPA Section on Science and Technology in Government, ASPA South Carolina Chapter, National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA), and the South Carolina Academy of Science (SCAS). She has been published in multiple peer reviewed publications and her research interests include Change Management, Change Management Practices, Organizational Behavior, Organizational Change, and Research Administration.

Denise White serves as the Financial Manager of the SC EPSCoR/IDeA State Office. Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from the University of South Carolina and currently working on the Master of Art in Organizational Leadership from Regent University. Denise has fifteen plus years of experience in financial, accounting, and budget management. Her experience includes preparing monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial statements; accounts receivables, accounts payables; creating and processing invoices; and bank reconciliations for multiple accounts. She is an experienced trainer in financial management practices.
