As the new South Carolina EPSCoR/IDeA Program Director, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the State Committee for the confidence they placed in me by selecting me for this role.
Since joining the EPSCoR/IDeA Office, I have had the great pleasure of meeting with numerous individuals and groups at various institutions to both listen to and exchange ideas about how we can together move toward realizing the ultimate goal of EPSCoR – to achieve a sustainable high level of research activity in the state. It has been evident during these visits that there is broad-ranging desire and willingness to be a part of this important state-wide effort.
I will continue this listening and learning tour of our institutions and will reach out to anyone interested in advancing the South Carolina research capacity, infusing research into science and engineering education, and increasing collaboration among stakeholders of the state's science and technology enterprise.
As we move forward, we will be in regular communication with you and will ask for your engagement in our efforts aimed at stimulating convergent research through cross institutional collaboration to address both our state’s and nation’s research science and technology priorities.
I have long believed that South Carolina has the talent and potential to achieve a high level of research activity. We at the SC EPSCoR/IDeA Program will support and build collaborative and inclusive programs and teams that can help bring South Carolina to a sustainable and nationally recognized level of achievement in research.
Together we will build a better future for the citizens of our State.
I look forward to working with you.
